Day #15: Threaten your children with a phone call to Santa
Have you ever really needed your children to take a nap?
Has your blood pressure been on the rise since moving?
Have you ever threatened your children with a phone call to Santa?
Argh. I did it.
And it worked.
And now I feel guilty.
Do you do the Santa tradition?

This is the first year I have struggled with this since Ella is going to be 2.5 at the end of the month. I enjoyed reading Jamie's blog and another friend's FB post who said the same things. While I would like to not do the Santa thing I don't know if I can do it. I just wonder how hard it would be with all the friends and family who do celebrate Santa to the fullest extent.

We don't do Santa. There are various thoughts and I guess whatever one chooses, if a Christian, Christ had better get the preeminence and that should be clear for the children.
Regarding your specific situation, perhaps it is best to appeal to your children to want to obey because the Lord asks it of them so that they understand that He is the authority to whom they- and you!- must answer. "Children, be obedient to your parents in all things for this is well-pleasing to the Lord."
We do santa on a limited scale. Santa brings stockings and we take a picture. That's it. Christmas is Jesus' birthday, and Santa is a fun tradition who brings treats to sweet boys and girls. We are happy with our "compromise"--hope y'all come to a peace with one. :)
From reading your other posts it seems that you decided long ago to do the Santa thing. Reading Christmas books (the night before Christmas), watching Christmas books, etc. We do it but we also make sure she knows God comes first and we celebrate JEsus at this time and everyday. OUr kids are raised in the church and can understand this. I think it is a problem for those who aren't in the church and only see the gifts being exchanged.
